Still not sure? Here are some answers to our most frequently asked questions.
Is this a diet? Will I get a meal plan?
ProCoach was developed using habit-based coaching. This style of coaching lets you build lifestyle habits long term, using techniques to help you incorporate new skills into your daily life. We focus on one habit at a time. Research shows that people have a greater than 85% chance of success at changing their behaviour when they try to change just one thing at a time. As people try to change many things at once, success drops dramatically. It might sound like a slow process, but it gets the best results.
Because of this, we don’t prescribe a specific meal plan, and it’s not a diet. Diets are temporary; we want you to keep these results for life. Meal plans involve a lot of calorie counting, which is not only tedious and difficult to follow, but is usually wrong. Download this free infographic to see why.
What about exercise? Will you give me a workout plan?
Yes! Whether you’re a pure beginner or an advanced gym trainee, we have a fitness program for you.
Some of you may already have a program you follow – that’s great! We encourage you to follow a program you enjoy and will do. Because of this, we’ve made participating in the fitness portion of ProCoach optional.
I’m a beginner. Is this program for me? What about advanced athletes?
ProCoach is a great program for people who are looking to change their eating and lifestyle habits, whether they are brand new to the fitness world, or already have considerable training under their belt. Even advanced trainees can experience challenges with nutrition.
Many people find they have knowledge of nutrition, but knowledge alone isn’t enough. Good nutrition habits relate more to what you do, consistently. If you find your execution and consistency are lacking, this might be a program for you.
This program is not for people with advanced physique or high-level competitive goals who require a detailed meal plan and diet recommendations. If that describes your needs, you may benefit from a more structured plan.
My nutrition is already pretty good. Why do I need this program?
A good nutrition program should help improve performance (in sport, your regular fitness routine, or life in general), improve your health, and improve your body composition. Many nutrition plans (which are really diets) fail to deliver on one or more of these outcomes. Maybe you lose weight, but feel terrible and your energy tanks; perhaps you’ve switched to something to fuel your performance in the gym, but you notice you don’t look quite the way you want. Either way, the plan doesn’t deliver. ProCoach delivers by helping you improve your performance, health, and looks.
There are no strict dieting rules in this program. Instead we help you build sustainable habits that you build upon and can easily fit into your lifestyle. You learn to move away from stringent rules and into a more flexible way of eating. Because of this, many people often find they improve their relationship with food and eating.
I have an injury and/or medical condition. Is this program for me?
We’re not medical professionals, and the advice we give is based on helping you change your lifestyle. We don’t prescribe diets or therapy for medical conditions. If you have an injury or medical condition, it’s always best to seek your doctor’s advice before beginning any sort of fitness or nutrition plan. Once you’ve received the all-clear from your physician, we will work with you to help you tailor the program to your needs.
I’m really busy. What is the time commitment for this program?
We get that you’re busy. The great news is that getting in the best shape of your life doesn’t need to take hours a day. The lessons and habits in the ProCoach program take about 10-15 minutes to work through. A workout might take anywhere between 30-60 minutes, a few times a week.
While this may seem like a lot, think about this: the average person watches nearly three hours of TV per day – that’s upwards of 21 hours a week; you could have a part time job in this time.
We’re asking you to commit to 5-7 hours per week to looking and feeling better, and getting the body you’ve always wanted.
Still not convinced it’s possible? Check out our Nutrition and Fitness for Busy Professionals package here.
Where do I need to live to do this program?
Wherever you like! This program is offered online and can be done from anywhere in the world.
What sort of equipment do I need to do the workouts?
The exercise portion of the workouts provide you with some options. You can do the standard workout in a gym, the at-home workout, or a quick version with just the essentials.
If you’re training in a gym, you’ll need access to a squat rack, a barbell and plates, dumbbells, and a cable machine. Most commercial gyms will have these items, and there are options within each exercise to make substitutions.
If you’re training at home, you’ll need some resistance bands, a few pairs of dumbbells in different weights, and a foam roller. Other options can include a TRX system and a jump rope. Amazon has great options for all of these things.
What sort of commitment is involved?
It’s easy to be enamoured with 30-60-90 day style programs that offer a quick fitness fix, and many of you have already tried these without lasting results. Research shows it takes two or more weeks to incorporate a new habit successfully into your regular routine (remember that success comes from changing one thing at a time), and quick fix diet and fitness principles ignore this.
Because of this, we’re asking for a few hours a week, for 12 months. Think of it as an investment in your health and future.
Will I get results?
Yes. Thousands of people have been successful with Precision Nutrition coaching, losing over 900,000 pounds.
You need to do the work; we can’t do it for you. If you put in the time and effort, we guarantee you’ll get results.
Are you ready to get in the best shape of your life?
Let’s do this.
