“When I started working with Nicole about a year and a half ago I had never completed a Snatch or Clean and Jerk before. My squat was somewhere around 150kg/330lbs and my mobility was severely lacking. As of this writing I have successfully competed in 4 weightlifting meets and have won a bronze medal in my weight class. My current PRs are a 111kg/236lbs snatch, a 125kg/276lbs clean and jerk, and a 193kg/425lbs Squat. “Weightlifting: Nicole has been coaching me in weightlifting for almost a year. I came to the sport as a 30-something busy professional having extremely limited mobility, rather poor coordination, and a lack of body awareness. During my first coaching sessions, I couldn’t even perform overhead squats with a broomstick and I could barely do a front squat with the bar. Nicole put me on a plan to improve my mobility and learn the basics of weightlifting technique. In a couple of months, I had improved enough to begin training in earnest. I’ve come a long way since then. My technique, mobility, coordination, and body awareness are all tremendously improved. Nicole helped me address my shortcomings head-on and resolve them rather than work around them as I had done in the past while doing general strength training. I can confidently say that I would not have had a fraction of the progress I have had without her guidance as a coach. My only regret is that I did not start lifting with her sooner.
Nutrition: I have struggled with my weight my entire life. Like many, I’ve had brief periods in my life where I reached my goals, only to yo-yo back right where I came from. I came to Nicole for nutrition coaching being very skeptical of my need for it. Most of us who struggle with our weight are in fact experts in all manners of diet and nutrition. We’ve lost weight before. Why do we need help doing it again? The answer became very apparent after a few coaching sessions with Nicole. She helped me realize what my actual nutrition behaviour was and how this affected my physique. Nicole helped me alter, adjust, and improve my behaviours so that they aligned with my goals. These are long-term, sustainable, behavioural changes that will stick permanently unlike my past dieting attempts. I’m eating more nutritious food, more often, and enjoying it all more. I’m sleeping better. My energy levels are improving. I no longer feel like my body has a mind of its own. I’m well on my way toward the physique that I want, which I’ve chosen, and which fits my busy work schedule, social life, and activity level. Along the way, Nicole has been there with helpful tips, assistance, or simply to listen when frustrations come up.
